2012.09.16 Juno - Magnified And Reduced By Inches 7-inch

Color: ”Coke Bottle”
Released: 1997, February
Label: Jade Tree
Man, I miss Juno. I’m also incredibly bummed that I don’t own more by the band on vinyl. This and the band’s final full length are all I currently have. I make it a point to always search for their first full length whenever and wherever I shop for records. I miss Juno for a lot of reasons - one of them being that I’m hard-pressed to think of a band that has left the kind of impression on me since Juno left their mark on my musical conscience. I love them because they are equally visceral and capable of inducing trips to the ether. This seven inch seems to divide those two facets in half. “Magnified…” is the kind of scorching rocker that usually appears as the second track on both the band’s proper full lengths. “Pablo y Zelda” is a bit more of a dreamy affair, but it’s not completely without the kind of tension and abrasiveness the band are adept at serving up. This single comes via Jade Tree and features a painting on the cover that hints at some poignant tragic narrative fitting of the kind of stories that singer Arlie Carstens is known to weave. Damn, Juno were criminally underrated.
