Score one for the cheap-used-bin-find category! These are sometimes the most rewarding finds. ‘Like the time I found The Mercury Program’s All The Suits… for 4 bucks in the back of some random bin at a record show. I found this for 4 bucks at the Wicker Park Reckless in Chicago. Cancer Conspiracy play some of the finest batch of modern “prog rock.” Talented dudes who have gone way under-appreciated. Forget The Mars Volta and turn your attention here. You’d never know it by looking at the picture above, but the front cover features a hit of spot varnish on matte white that actually does create some sort of visual as opposed to just a field of white with nothing on it. That’s why these things are so great to hold, as opposed to a bunch of ones and zeros on your computer screen. I’ve said that countless times before… but shit like this warrants repeating it. You can kind of get an idea of the image here (but again, it’s not the same effect of light hitting that gloss texture on a matte field.) Robots might dream of electric sheep but they can’t reproduce this kind of visual, kids.
