2012.06.29 The Six Parts Seven - Everywhere, And Right Here

Color: Red
Released: 2007, January 23
Label: Suicide Squeeze
I told you I was remedying the problem of only owning so much 6P7 on vinyl. I’m really coveting Things Shaped In Passing, though… and I had found a copy, but it’s a bit out of my budget at the moment. BUT! I was able to score this copy of Everywhere, And Right Here on beautiful red vinyl for relatively cheap, to boot. The internet is indeed useful for some things. While the band could never be called loud or particularly aggressive in any fashion, I do believe this release is markedly mellower than anything else they have released. It’s not a bad thing… but the band clearly have no immediate agenda and the songs seem to float and hang in the air. Luckily for the listener, if you happen to be in the mood for just that, you will get quality compositions that bury themselves deep within your conscience and take up long term residence there despite no propensity toward any kind of immediate “catchiness.” Look to “A Blueprint Of Something Never Finished” as a prime example of this. (Of interesting note: an earlier version of this song appeared on a split with The Black Keys, yes those Black Keys.) To tie it all up nicely, the record is housed inside a nice heavy-duty matte paper gate-fold sleeve that is graced by some of my favorite work from artist/designer Jessie LeDoux.
