I suppose if you can’t have the real thing then a bootleg is the next best thing. ‘found this curiosity at Criminal while searching for some legit Swervedriver on vinyl. Ashamedly, I missed out on the recent limited vinyl reissues from Hi-Speed Soul of their first two full lengths. I was kind of skeptical, at first, to purchase something that contained a lot of “rare tracks” that I already had heard or owned digitally… but after feeling pretty bummed that I couldn’t get my hands on anything else by the band on wax, I thought “What the hell?” and sprung for this. Not a bad call. It’s nice to hear some of these songs at this fidelity and this record serves as a splendid reminder that Swervedriver often wrote so many great songs that they couldn’t be contained to a proper full length all the time. Bonus points too because the sleeve is screen printed with two colors. It’s not the most interesting or well designed cover but I can appreciate that someone took the time to produce the sleeves in this manner.
