A bit more of a hushed affair compared to their previous release, “All is Wild, All is Silent”, but just as equally captivating – if not more. Using strings, banjos, pianos and stomping percussion, the band creates fantastic passages of contemplative beauty. Not necessarily an immediate listen… but careful attention will reward the listener. This is almost verbatim how I feel about album cover as well - There’s nothing immediately eye-catching about it… except when you pause to really take it in and then you trace every fold of the cloth material that floats across the picture plane barely obscuring the light found at the center of the composition. Not trying to get all heady and intellectual on your asses - but when hear this music and see this cover the two become essential parts of the same experience. Do not, for the life of you, forsake the song “Bowsprit” - it is some seriously gorgeous shit.
